Biography

Dr. Brittany Nwachuku, EdD, LCSW, LISW-S is an Assistant Professor in the online Master of Social Work program at Alliant International University. Dr. Nwachuku received her Doctor of Education degree from the University of Pittsburgh and Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from the University of Louisville’s Raymond A. Kent School of Social Work. She has numerous years of experience in medical and mental health settings. Dr. Nwachuku’s clinical experience of working with diverse populations includes, juvenile probation, foster care youth, school social work, private practice, and oncology healthcare settings. In addition, she has provided clinical and administrative supervision to social work students, interns, and professionals, while facilitating a wide range of cancer support groups, educational lectures, and professional development to staff on best practices for diverse and underserved patient populations. Dr. Brittany Nwachuku is a Board-Certified Oncology Social Worker (OSW-C) and Qualified Administrator (QA) of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI). Presently, Dr. Nwachuku serves as a member of the Ethics Committee for the National Association of Social Workers Ohio Chapter (NASW-OH) and CSWE’s Council on the Role and Status of Women (CORSW) executive committee. Her research specialties include equity and inclusion, psychosocial oncology care, grief and bereavement, and women's health disparities.

Biography

Dr. Brittany Davis, LCSWA is an Assistant Professor in the online Master of Social Work program at Alliant International University.  Dr. Davis obtained her PhD in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. She obtained her MSW degree from the University of Michigan with a focus in Community Organization with Children, Youth, and Families. Her research interests include equitable development strategies for historically low-income communities of color, bridging homeownership disparities among residents of color, the sociocultural impacts of gentrification on Black communities, and anti-racist social work pedagogy. Her experiences in the field of social work include working with children and families with a history of child abuse and neglect, serving as a children’s crisis counselor, providing community services at a public housing site, providing counseling for youth and families involved with the juvenile justice system, serving as a workforce development specialist, serving as a licensed clinical social worker associate, and providing case management services to homeless students and their families. She has also served as a social work field supervisor for MSW and BSW students. Additionally, she has taught a wide range of MSW and BSW courses for multiple universities. 

Sara Strayer

Biography

Dr. Sara Strayer, LSW (she/her/hers) is the Director of Field Education and Assistant Professor in the online Master of Social Work program at Alliant International University. She has received a PhD in Social Work, a Master of Social Work degree, Bachelor of Social Work degree, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. She is also a licensed social worker and a certified child welfare supervisor and certified child welfare direct service worker. In addition, she has completed trainings in advanced and Spanish speaking forensic interviewing from The National Children's Advocacy Center.

Degree Information


The degree curriculum is designed to train you for professional practice as a licensed social worker, using practice-based training. Your graduate certificate in MA social work online qualifies you to participate in any community practice. The broad curriculum of the MSW degree online incorporates both direct practice with individuals, families, and groups, and macro practice at the community and organizational levels. Social Justice, Human Behavior, and the Social Environment are among the courses you will learn in this continuing education program.

Post-Graduation Licensure

Students of the advanced standing masters in social work in California who successfully complete the degree requirements for the program are eligible to apply for licensure through the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). ASWB is a nonprofit organization composed of the social work regulatory boards and colleges of all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and all 10 Canadian provinces. They are the only nonprofit organization dedicated to social work regulation to keep the highest standards in social service practice. Licensure requirements vary from state to state. Students should contact the licensing board in the state they wish to apply for licensure.

Felicia Wilson
Biography

Dr. Felicia Wilson, LCSW is an Associate Professor in the online Master of Social Work program at Alliant International University.  Dr. Wilson received her doctoral degree in human services Master of Social Work degree, Master of Business Administration, and Bachelor of Social Work degree. She is a licensed master social worker in the state of Georgia. She also holds a certificate in Contemporary Theory in Addictive Behavior and is a Certified Professional Life Coach. Prior to joining academia Dr. Wilson worked as an assistant administrator/director of social services in a long-term care facility, as a therapist with abused children who were victims of sexual exploitation, as a director of customer services with a healthcare technology company, and a home care agency social worker. Her research interests include family caregiving, caregiver burnout, job burnout antecedents, and prevention.
