Program Overview

The programs have rigorous training in different areas of clinical mental health counseling and counselor education. Counseling psychology programs integrate clinical mental health practices with professional school counseling techniques to prepare students for diverse roles in educational settings. Alliant offers three online school counseling programs through the California School of Education (CSOE).

  • The educational specialist in school counseling with pupil personnel services (PPS) credential program prepares you to provide counseling support for K–12 students who need to overcome personal and academic challenges or plan for life after high school. Courses in adolescent behavior, methodology, evaluation, and mental health counseling help equip you to give every student a chance to prosper, and succeed inside and outside an educational setting.
  • The master's degree program in school counseling helps prepare counseling professionals for critical and life-changing roles working with students and families in K–12 school settings. The master's degree online hybrid program provides greater flexibility for school counseling students that work full-time.
  • The school counseling PPS credential-only program is designed for qualified, master's-level professionals who wish to work in schools as a professional counselor in a school setting. This credential-only counseling program is ideal for LMFT and LPCC professionals seeking a career in K–12.

Whether you sign up for an EdS degree, a master's degree, or a credential-only course, you'll receive the right education for a successful career as a licensed professional counselor.
