SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Aug 24, 2012 – Associate Professor and Interim Program Director Dr. Glenn Lipson has been diligently working to address and prevent sexual misconduct in schools. Following extensive research, Dr. Lipson launched the multimedia training initiative, Making Right Choices, which is designed to educate all school personnel about the problem of sexual misconduct. He has gone one step further, advocating for legislation, pursuing a law to support the program that will make it a crime for someone to groom a student for the purpose of a subsequent sexual relationship.
Because of his efforts, he has received multiple invitations to represent the cause as a leading national voice for the prevention of educator sexual misconduct. First, he accepted an invitation to sit on the distinguished Board of Advisors for the legislatively active group, S.E.S.A.M.E., Stop Educator Sexual Abuse, Misconduct, and Exploitation. Next, Dr. Lipson and Dan Shinoff, a San Diego school lawyer, were invited to present a 2-hour workshop session entitled, “Making Right Choices: Sexual Misconduct and the Public Employer.” The workshop is a part of the 16th Professional Practices Institute, put on by the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC) and held in Cincinnati, Ohio this October. Finally, Dr. Lipson will present a break-out session at the California Association of Joint Powers Authorities Annual Fall Conference & Training Seminar held in South Lake Tahoe in September.
