As you may know, over half of the licensed psychologists in California are graduates of the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP). So it’s not surprising that our CSPP community had a strong showing at this year’s California Psychological Association (CPA) Convention in Monterey.

Congratulations to the following CSPP faculty, students and alumni, who presented at this year’s CPA Convention:

• Brad Conn(CSPP-LA Clinical PhD student) and Christine Ricohermoso (CSPP-LA Clinical PsyD student) co-presented a poster entitled “Providing Foster Programs with Behavioral Modification Skills to Help Youth with ADHD and ODD”.
• Michael Donner (CSPP-SF,’89) co-presented a Master Lecture on “Ethics Are Not Rules: Psychology in the Real World”.
• Krystel Edmonds-Biglow (Associate Professor, CSPP-LA Clinical PsyD and alumna CSPP-LA, ‘01), Erica L. Holmes (CSPP-LA, ’01) and Jeffrey Tirengel (Professor, CSPP-LA Clinical PsyD and alumnus CSPP-LA ’90) presented a session on “Cultural/Historical Trauma, Trauma-Sensitive Supervision and Consultation, and Resiliency in Diverse Communities”.
• Rut Gubkin (CSPP-Alameda,’91) was a presenter in “Diversity Forum: Making Cultural Consciousness a Priority for CPA and the Local Chapters – Where Are We Today?”
• Robert-Jay Green (Distinguished Professor Emeritus, CSPP-SF Clinical PhD) and Kim Bergman (CSPP-LA’90) co-presented a session on “Family Building through Third-Party Assisted Reproduction: A New Area of Practice”.
• Mark Kamena (CSPP-Alameda’97) co-presented a session on “Counseling Cops: What Clinicians Need to Know”.
• Keely Kolmes (CSPP-SF,’03) presented a 4-hour Preconvention Advanced Level Intensive entitled “Digital and Social Media Ethics for Psychologists”.
• Alan Lincoln (Professor, CSPP-SD Clinical PhD) and Morgan T. Sammons (CSPP Dean) presented a 4-hour Preconvention Advanced Level Intensive entitled “The Evaluation and Treatment of Neurodevelopmental Disorders Through the Lifespan: Special Considerations for Differential Diagnosis, Behavior Therapies and Psychopharmacology”.
• Jazmine McCoy (CSPP-SF Clinical PsyD student) and Elena Padron (Associate Professor, CSPP-SF Clinical PsyD) co-presented a poster entitled “Former Foster Youth with Sexual Abuse Histories: Pregnancy Experiences and Maternal Perceptions of Their Child”.
• Gerald Michaels (Associate Professor, CSPP-SF Clinical PsyD) and Valata Jenkins-Monroe (Professor, CSPP-SF Clinical PsyD) co-presented a poster entitled “Training the Next Generation of Psychologists to Assess Culturally Diverse, Underserved Populations”.
• Sara Moini and Saimir Thano (CSPP-LA Clinical PhD students) co-presented a poster entitled “Modern Stepfamilies: Living in Multicultural and Interracial Households”.
• Joe Nee (CSPP-LA Clinical PhD student) and Michi Fu (Associate Professor, CSPP-LA Clinical PhD and alumna CSPP-LA,  ’02) co-presented a poster entitled “I am such a Twinkie: Clinical Implications of Bicultural Chinese Americans’ Development and Psychopathology”.
• Russ Newman (Alliant Provost), Susan Regas (Professor, CSPP-LA Clinical PhD), Antoinette Brunasso (CSPP-LA,’12) and Sarah Abdel-Wahab (CSPP-LA Clinical PsyD student) presented “Innovative Help for Families with Very Sick Children: Support Doesn’t Just Occur Behind Closed Doors”.
• Rhoda Olkin (Distinguished Professor and Program Director, CSPP-SF Clinical PsyD) presented a session on “DSM-5: You Be the Judge”.
• Elena Padron (Associate Professor, CSPP-SF Clinical PsyD), Kristin Samuelson (Associate Professor, CSPP-SF Clinical PhD), Michelle Jurkiewicz (CSPP-SF Clinical PhD student) and Christina Wilson (CSPP-SF’12) co-presented a poster entitled “Identifying the Relational Dynamics of Disorganized Attachment using Mother-Child Emotion Dialogues in Middle Childhood”.
• E. Janie Pinterits (Associate Professor and Program Director, CSPP-SF Clinical Counseling) and Camerin J. Ross (CSPP-SF Clinical PhD student), members of the Executive Committee of the CPA Colleague Awareness, Resources and Education Committee (CARE) co-presented a session on “Seeking A New Definition of Self-Care”. 
• Adele Rabin (Professor, CSPP-SD Clinical PhD), Emily Meier (CSPP-SD,’11) and Kimberly Weingart (CSPP-SD,’11) co-presented a poster entitled “The Adverse Impact of Misaligned but Well-Meaning Support”.
• Alexander Rowell (CSPP-SD Clinical PsyD student) co-presented a session on “Father on Board: A Social Cognitive Model of Adjustment to Fatherhood”.
• Morgan T. Sammons (CSPP Dean), Jesse O’Hare Wade (CSPP-SF Clinical PsyD student) and Ken H. Perez (CSPP-SF Clinical PsyD student) presented “Military Sexual Assault: Understand. Intervene. Prevent.”
• Lindsay Slosberg (CSPP-LA Clinical PhD student), Michi Fu (Associate Professor, CSPP-LA Clinical PhD and alumna CSPP-LA, ‘02) and Chelsie Dunn (CSPP-LA Clinical PhD student) co-presented a poster entitled “We’ve Got a New Attitude: Innovative Strategies of Approaching Risky Sexual Behavior”.
• Ellen Stein (CSPP-SD,’95) was a co-presenter in a 4-hour Preconvention Advanced Level Intensive entitled “Talking Ethics with the CPA Ethics Committee”.
• Elizabeth Straus (CSPP-SD Clinical PhD student) and Matthew Porter (Assistant Professor, CSPP-SD Clinical PsyD) co-presented a poster entitled “Toward a Multiculturally Sensitive Psychological Conceptualization of Wisdom”.
• Laura Torissi (CSPP-SD Clinical PhD student) presented a poster entitled “Correlates of Perpetrating and Being the Victim of Women’s Hostility Toward Women”.

The 2015 CPA Convention will be held in San Diego April 23-26, 2015. The 2015 CPA Convention Chair will be our very own Jeff Tirengel, Professor in the Los Angeles Clinical PsyD program and CSPP alumnus (CSPP-LA,’91).
