A master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages - TESOL - is your ticket to see the world!


Teachers of English who have completed TESOL training - which is sometimes called EFL (English as a Foreign Language) or TESL (Teaching English as Second Language) - are in high demand around the world. Your masters degree in TESOL will open the door to many jobs in the US and abroad.

The master's degree program in Teaching TESOL at the Shirley Hufstedler School of Education (HSOE) at Alliant International University, serves not only students from Southern California, but is also sought out by educators from around the world.

This masters program offers a balance between theory and practice through a combination of TESOL methodology, linguistics, and education courses. It is designed for both prospective and experienced English as a Second Language (ESL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) educators. Students may earn the TESOL Graduate Certificate after taking five master's courses.

Students who wish to continue on to earn a doctoral degree will discover that HSOE's EdD in TESOL program is among the very few doctoral programs offered in the Western US. It is distinguished by a large community of international graduates, many of whom have been responsible for creating TESOL programs and training in their home countries, and who will be found among the presenters at the most prestigious international conferences.
