Alliant’s TeachersCHOICE Program offers two pathways of support during your teaching internship: a standard intern teaching program and the intern teaching Early Completion Option (ECO) program. Standard Intern Teaching ProgramThe Standard Intern Program supports and advances candidates who have a paid teaching position in an accredited K-12 California school while you are simultaneously completing required coursework. This is an intensive route with significant time demands but is often the preferred route for highly motivated candidates who need the theoretical foundation provided by graduate education coursework.
A part of required coursework includes two semesters (6 units each semester) of Intern Teaching and Seminar, inclusive of monthly evening seminars and field supervision which features four observations / mentoring conferences each semester.
For additional information regarding internship programs, see this CCTC website link. Intern Teaching - Early Completion Option
The ECO Program is for candidates who are looking for a path that acknowledges and honors their background. Candidates who, through passing the Teaching Foundations Examination, demonstrate their competency and skill in teaching, may waive most traditionally required teacher education coursework.
The two-semester program includes intensive classroom observations and mentoring with university field supervisor site visits a minimum of eight times per semester for two semesters as well as weekly seminar meetings and two Saturday seminars per semester, focusing on advanced issues critical to the teacher’s success and the success of urban K-12 students.
