Political Science Bachelor's Program

As a student majoring in Political Science, you'll study political behavior, institutions, and systems, in the U.S. and globally. You'll gain a deep understanding of political, social and economic issues and processes and their interconnectedness locally and globally. The course work emphasizes development of critical and analytical thinking and writing skills, as well as competence in the subject matter
Gain Hands-On Experience
The bachelor's program in Political Science embraces a global, interdisciplinary approach, which teaches students the skills needed to work effectively within and across cultural and national boundaries and tackle local and global political challenges. Professional internships, community service projects, and research activities round out the program's coursework, connecting the concepts and theories learned in the classroom with their day-to-day application in organizations.
The major in Political Science will train you for careers in the public and private sectors, including federal, state and local governments, nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations, business, foreign policy and diplomacy, campaign management, journalism, and law.
Pathway to Law School or an MBA
At Alliant, our bachelor's programs provide seamless transition into graduate education. As a Political Science student in your senior year, you choose between two pathways—Pre-Law or Business Administration—which will prepare you for law school or a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
As part of this pathway program, you will take two graduate level law courses or four graduate level business courses. Upon admission into either the Law or MBA program, the related courses taken during your Political Science bachelor's program will be transferred into your chosen graduate program.
International Study Abroad
During the Political Science program, you can choose to study abroad at one of our partner universities in a variety of international cities. Study abroad opportunities are offered in:
- 60 unit major (20 courses)
- 48 units of core curriculum
- 12 units of concentration courses
- Transfer Students can get credit for most general education courses taken at other schools
- First-time freshman can complete their general education requirements at Alliant
- Evening class schedule
