 5. Health Insurance

Alliant International University and Aetna Student Health have teamed up to offer students a comprehensive health plan at an affordable price. This year, the plan is required for all international students and students living in housing on the San Diego campus.  If you are not an international student or a student living in housing, you will not be able to participate in the Alliant Student Health Plan. If you are an international student or a student living in housing, you will have the insurance premium automatically assessed to your account in Fall 2014 and in Spring 2015.  Annual premium is about $2,500 and payment can be made in two installments. If you wish to waive the insurance coverage, you will need to show proof of comparable coverage online at Aetna Student Health during the open enrollment period for the Fall Semester, 8/1/14 to 9/2/14.

Additional information on this process will be available on the portal and distributed via email prior to the beginning of open enrollment.  Once you waive your coverage, the premium will be deducted from your student account.

The University has also teamed up with Anthem Dental to offer students an affordable dental plan. There are no eligibility requirements for this plan and anyone can enroll. Monthly premium is $17.40. This is an optional plan.

If you have any questions regarding the health insurance or dental insurance, please contact Stephanie Russell at srussell@alliant.edu or 858.635.4824.
