Alliant's Institute on Violence Abuse and Trauma Host Its 17th Annual International Conference

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Aug 22, 2012 – The 17th Annual International Conference on Violence, Abuse & Trauma, “Linking Research, Policy, Advocacy and Practice. Best Practices: Compassion in Action,” will be held from Sunday, September 9, 2012 through Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center..
More than 1,300 researchers, practitioners, advocates, policy makers, consumer-survivors and front-line workers from all over the world will converge in San Diego to discuss strategies for ending all forms of violence everywhere. The annual conference has become a unique forum for people from all disciplines and philosophies to gather for in-depth exchanges of information on treatment, prevention and intervention for all forms of violence, including domestic violence, child maltreatment, elder abuse and neglect, special needs and under-served populations, at-risk youth, human trafficking, substance abuse and trauma in the military and their families. Conference attendees represent advocates, researchers, psychologists, social workers, nurses, judges, attorneys, clergy, counselors, military, couple and family therapists, volunteers, physicians, policy makers, educators, law enforcement, probation and parole, psychiatrists, shelter and crisis center workers, consumers and others.

The 17th International Conference on Violence, Abuse & Trauma is co-hosted by The Children’s Institute, Inc., National Partnership to End Interpersonal Violence Across the Lifespan (NPEIV), Family Violence & Sexual Assault Institute (FVSAI) and the Institute on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma (IVAT) at Alliant International University, a nonprofit, international training, professional services and resource center.
