Bio and Links

James T. Turner has managed thousands of threat cases over the course of his thirty year career. He has experience not only in workplace violence but also terrorism, counterterrorism investigations, operational psychology and political violence issues. He has worked with leaders in a range of organizations to address business threats to their leadership. Dr. Turner is a U. S. Army veteran, having served as the psychologist with the 24th Infantry Division and with the Special Forces Operation Detachment – D.

Dr. Turner has co-authored two books the most recent being, Threat Assessment: A Risk Management Approach. He is also the editor of two other books on violence. He has written many professional articles on a range of topics including hostage negotiations, infant abduction, workplace violence and political violence. Jim has been cited and interviewed by a news media to include The Wall Street Journal, PBS’s Marketwatch, ABC’s Nightline, and Fortune Magazine. He has made quest appearance on hundreds of radio program throughout the world. He presents throughout the U.S. and Europe on workplace violence, threat assessment, high risk insiders and leadership.

Jim has worked in law enforcement applications for over 30 years. He has served as president of the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology twice and was one of the first five people to earn the Diplomate in Police Psychology awarded by the Society. There are currently approximately 50 individuals who hold the diplomate.

Jim continues to publish with two upcoming books, The Path to Responsibility –Driven Leadership with E.C. Murphy and The Engaged Interviewer in 2013.

Dr. Turner has served as a consultant to the Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy, the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, Nuclear Threat Program, Department of Homeland Security, The Secret Service, Controller of the Currency, Microsoft, Seagate Technologies, Morgan Stanley, and individual police departments to name a few.

Dr. Turner is a faculty member at Alliant International University, California School for Forensic Studies. He is also the director of the new Institute of Police Psychology and Homeland Security at the School. Dt. Turner serves as President of International Assessment Services, a threat and workplace violence group.
